Job Description:

Electrical Engineering Intern

Qatar

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in Doha, Qatar! In this role, you will support infrastructure and building projects across power distribution, lighting systems, and Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA), gaining exposure to real-world electrical engineering workflows, tools, standards, and construction practices. Our internship program is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience, enabling you to apply your academic knowledge while contributing to active engineering projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, supporting design development activities within a professional consulting environment. Interns are encouraged not only to learn, but also to contribute to project outputs, engage with engineering teams, and develop their professional skills. In addition to project work, interns will have access to mentorship, professional exposure on live projects, and networking opportunities, supporting both their technical growth and long-term career development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting in the preparation and updating of electrical design drawings and documents for infrastructure, transportation, and building projects.
  • Supporting development of power distribution, lighting, and ICA/low-voltage system layouts under supervision.
  • Assisting with basic engineering calculations and data inputs (under supervision), such as load estimates and cable sizing support.
  • Supporting preparation of engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Assisting in the review and coordination of electrical designs with other disciplines to ensure proper integration and space allocation.
  • Supporting identification of design clashes and coordination issues during multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Assisting in updating drawings and documents based on engineering redlines and coordination comments.
  • Collecting and organizing technical data, such as equipment datasheets and project records.
  • Assisting in preparing presentations, reports, and meeting materials, and following up on assigned actions.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university in Qatar.
  • Strong academic background with coursework relevant to:
    • Power systems
    • Electrical design
    • Basic control systems (preferred)
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow engineering standards and procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a professional engineering setting.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

  • Exposure (through coursework or academic projects) to:
    • Power system analysis or protection concepts
    • Lighting design or low-voltage/ICA system design
    • BIM/Revit (Electrical) or other digital design tools
  • Familiarity with infrastructure or transportation electrical design workflows.
  • Exposure to construction or site environments.
  • Interest in projects involving infrastructure, transportation, and building services.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work toward project deadlines.
