Job Description:

Students applying to this position must be in receipt of OSAP or out-of-province assistance during the current or prior academic year or must have a demonstrated financial need determined using Financial Aid and Student Awards standardized needs and assessment budget calculation tool.  

The Part-time Student Advancement and Strategy Coordinator will perform routine, standardized and repetitive duties that are easily learned and assist on day to day takes on tasks such as:

  • Provide excellent customer and technical service assistance to the advancement and strategy team, donors and alumni;

  • Be responsible for general data entry tasks, simple donor and alumni outreach via email or telephone;

  • Provide support for storage organization and general coordination;

  • Perform office general duties in accordance with the Collective Agreement (CA);

  • Provide clerical assistance in accordance with the CA;

  • Provide support to all operations and maintenance areas that can only be performed by students;

  • Assist staff with completion of routine duties in accordance with the CA;

  • Follow all College safety protocol while working on College property;

  • Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with the CA.

  • Perform specific routine tasks that are straight-forward and repetitive in nature;

  • Ability to apply fundamental reading, writing, and arithmetic skills;
     

Initiative – Independence of Action

  • Job duties are performed in accordance with specific and detailed instructions under direct, day-to-day supervision. There is little or no freedom to act independently.

  • Ensure decisions and/or actions have limited impact on the organization;

  • Detect errors easily and quickly.
     

Contacts and Working Relationships

  • Communication of a routine nature for the purpose of furnishing, exchanging or discussing factual data or information. Personal courtesy and normal working/social relationships are required.

Physical/Sensory Demands

  • Regular physical demand;

  • Speed and repetitive use of muscles;

  • Uncomfortable or awkward bodily positions for short periods of time with some flexibility of movement; 

  • Moderate visual, auditory or sensory demand on mental energy and occasional careful attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions

  • Recurring exposure to slightly disagreeable and/or hazardous elements that involve some work pressures;

  • Interruptions and pressing deadlines;

  • Tight, changing deadlines and conflicting demands occur occasionally.

Requirements for this position include:

  • This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP. 

  • You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students are not eligible: Better Jobs Ontario, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved; 

  • You must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date; 

  • For more information on CSEP: 

  • You must demonstrate a financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding 

  • Partial completion of secondary school education, or equivalent;

  • Up to six months of practical experience.

  • You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program.

  • You must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date.

Anticipated Schedule:

Up to 15 hours per week (flexible)

This position is fully onsite at Ottawa Campus.
