About the Role:
We are offering an exciting 12-month Year-In-Industry opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic student or recent graduate to join our Planning & Logistics Department. Reporting to the Head of Planning and working closely with our logistics and operations teams, you will play a key role in supporting production scheduling, resource planning, and inventory management.

This is an ideal placement for a university student pursuing a degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. For the right candidate, there may be opportunities to travel to the US to support intercompany process improvements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the master scheduling of resource requirements across the Manchester site

  • Communicate planning needs through production/capacity plans and planning meetings

  • Support inventory management and ensure cycle counts are completed in a timely manner

  • Prepare and submit performance and production plan reports

  • Liaise with stakeholders across departments to ensure demand planning aligns with customer needs

  • Adapt to challenges with agility and a customer-first mindset while identifying cost-saving opportunities

  • Meet departmental and business-wide KPIs including HSE, quality, and HR standards

  • Contribute to the implementation of lean manufacturing principles (Luxfer’s BEST module)

  • Provide cover and support for the wider planning team as needed

  • Carry out other duties as reasonably requested within your capability


What We’re Looking For – Essential:

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including Maths, English, and Science

  • A-Levels (or equivalent) in Business, Maths, Science, or a related field

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a similar discipline

  • Strong IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Previous work experience in logistics, transport, or manufacturing (placement, part-time, or voluntary)

  • Experience with ERP or planning systems (not essential, training provided)
