About the Role
<p><a href="https://app.joinhandshake.com/jobs/www.almostfun.org" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">Almost Fun</a> is a non-profit tech organization that provides culturally-responsive and relatable educational resources designed for BIPOC and low-income students. Our mission is to engage students in their learning and help them apply their education to understand the world around them.</p><p><br></p><p>Our software engineers <strong>will</strong>:</p><ul><li>Participate in a weekly team reading group focused on research on culturally-responsive methods of math instruction.</li><li>Support the Chief Technology Officer&nbsp;in building new, interactive math lessons (<a href="http://www.almostfun.org/lessons" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">current examples</a>) that connect math concepts to relatable situations / social issues.</li><li><strong>Commitment</strong> will be 8-12 hours a week from <strong>Jan-May.</strong> This is a <strong>remote&nbsp;</strong>position that pays hourly.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred skills</strong> for this role are:</p><ul><li>A commitment to educational equity</li><li>Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science</li><li>Experience with Javascript and web development</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Applicants must be currently enrolled at a college or university.</strong></p>
