About the Role

PIL Internship

With PIL Group, as interns, you have the opportunity to be immersed in a diverse range of businesses from shipping to logistics.  Hone your skills and have hands-on exposure in business units* such as Finance, Fleet, Information Systems, Human Capital Management, Commercial, Marine Operations and Procurement, Logistics and more.

What to expect as an intern:

Learn from experience maritime professionals.  A reporting manager be assign to guide and train you on maritime industry, sharing with you specific business units needs knowledge, develop your business savviness, soft skills and leadership skills.


Regular discussions and networking with interns and reporting managers to ensure the learning and development journey is meaningful

Internship Opportunities

  

Line Management

  • Trade Management: Formulate pricing strategies and optimize cargo flow.
  • Network and Planning: Analyse trade service performance, conduct feasibility studies of potential new routes and design efficient networks   


Logistics

  • Equipment Management: Plan and optimize container flow to right locations 
  • Intermodal and Procurement: Procure depot and trucking services
  • Business Process, Reporting and Systems Reporting: Formulate and implement cost guidelines, reviews processes for performance effectiveness. 


Operations & Procurement

  • Operations: Optimise stowage planning, manage and monitor vessel schedules, port operations and special cargoes
  • Port & Terminal Procurement: Ensure optimum usage of ports and terminals and manage port and terminal costs


Group Commercial & Agency Management

  • Manage and monitor performance of our overseas agencies and offices to drive operational efficiencies and financial performance.  Conduct feasibility studies of potential new businesses, business development
  • Global sales and customer care: Maintain and grow desire key client segments, drive customers’ engagement and improve customers’ experience


Fleet

  • Marine Personnel: Manpower planning, recruit and deploy sea crew to fleet of vessels, review and implement sea-crew acquisition and retention programs
  • Marine Procurement and Contracts: Review and implement Procurement Contracts, partner with vendors for global supplies to meet vessels needs


Corporate Functions

  • Finance:  Perform financial accounting, budgetary controls, treasury and risk management (Enterprise Risk Management) functions 
  • IT:  Drive digitalization efforts to meet business needs, collaborate with business users to develop applications for a wide range of IT platforms through enterprise systems and vendor products.
  • Human Resource:  Enhance Human Capital Management in areas such as talent acquisition, development of total rewards, talent management and learning and development.
