About the role:

The Nuclear Operations group focuses on all operations topics, supporting worldwide utilities. Nuclear Operations leads the delivery of modern nuclear instrumentation technologies, such as the Vanadium Fixed Incore Instrumentation System. We offer an array of reactor engineering services, including startup physics testing, nuclear instrumentation diagnostics, fuel transfer and cask loading optimization, and much more.

As a Nuclear Operations intern, you will work on the new generation of reactors like the AP300 SMR and eVinci microreactor, the new fleet of AP1000® and the operating fleet from all over the world. Building your skills based on actual operating plant experience in the field, combined with new plant development, will be a major accelerator for your career in the nuclear industry.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid, full-time, hybrid summer internship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will acquire knowledge about integrated plant operations to develop the way control room operators run plants with operating procedures.
  • You will work with industry professionals who will teach you the technical and professional aspects of working in the nuclear industry.
  • Your scope will include the operating fleet (integrating operating experience and new scenarios) and the next generation of nuclear plants (SMR and microreactors), giving you learning and development opportunities in both worlds.
  • You will support our technology development for incore instrumentation, reactivity computers and other our testing equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Other engineering majors holding a Reactor Operator license at a university reactor will be considered
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
