About the Role
 

 

US Communications Co Op 

 
  
  

This student co-op position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public relations, media engagement, and executive communications within a leading global organization. The student will provide external communications support, including but not limited to, research, writing, media/influencer list curation, media outreach and project and event support. The student will have an enterprise focus, working on projects across our North America cross-divisional squads. The individual will be an active participant in and contributor to the work of the team and have ownership of specific deliverables.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Assist in the development and distribution of press materials, including press releases, media alerts, and briefing materials/backgrounders;
  • Support the media relations team in monitoring media coverage and compiling reports on key stories and trends;
  • Help coordinate media inquiries and facilitate communication between journalists and company spokespeople;
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of media events and executive appearances;
  • Hands on support for major company-sponsored programs and events;
  • Research and compile information on industry trends, competitor activities, and relevant news to support strategic communications initiatives;
  • Assist in maintaining and updating media contact lists and databases;
  • Collaborate with team members on various projects and initiatives related to executive visibility and thought leadership;
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing media engagement and communication strategies. Other duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program Studying Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field;
  • The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest through prior internships or coursework/campus involvement in communications (public relations, journalism, digital media, etc.), as well as strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite Preferences: (specific knowledge items, certifications, skills, abilities, etc.);
  • Experience with Muckrack/Cision, Business.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills that display innovative and creative thinking and attention to detail (writing sample required);
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment, manage competing deadlines, and be proactive;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others;

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.10 to $28.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
