We are prequalified in the following Area Classes: 1.06e Ecology, 5.08 Subsurface Utility Engineering, the entire 6. Soils, Foundation & Materials Testing Area Class Group, 8.01 Construction Supervision, and 9.03 Field Inspection for Compliance of Erosion and Sedimentation Control Devise Installations. The United Consulting Geotechnical Laboratory occupies approximately 10,000 square feet of space in our Norcross, Georgia headquarters. The laboratory is fully equipped to perform a wide variety of tests on disturbed and undisturbed samples. Our USACE-certified lab is also certified by American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) under the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) the Concrete and Cement Reference Laboratory (CCRL) as an R-18 Laboratory.
About the Role

Description

Title: ENGINEERING INTERN

Department: Road

Reports To: Project Team Leader or Project Manager

Education: Working to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent

Experience: Entry Level Position


Duties:

Prepare various components design calculations with oversight

Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight

Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight

Prepare various components of plans with oversight

Work and coordinate with other internal departments

Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports

Meet deadlines

Alert Project Team Leaders immediately upon realization of a problem on a project

Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices

Perform other duties as assigned


Skills:

Successful completion of transportation coursework, preferred

Able to work independently with instruction

Possess strong communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills required to work in a “team” concept

Able to work on multiple projects at once

Proficient with a computer and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, and ACAD software

Detail oriented

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Able to work seated 9 or more hours per workday

Able to work 40 or more hours per work week as needed

Able to work outdoors traversing uneven or difficult terrain

Able to travel throughout Indiana including overnight stays


Other Requirements:

Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license

Agree to abide by the personnel policies identified in the Company Policy
