Job Summary
CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Environmental Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Compliance, and Permitting/Sustainability.
Compensation
$20.50-$27.00/hr DOE
Responsibilities
- Assist with Cement Plant environmental compliance as needed. This may include preparation of reports required by environmental permits to state, local, or federal agencies, compliance inspections, etc.
- The position will involve learning about mining, cement manufacturing processes, process and environmental monitoring equipment, environmental regulations, inspections, working with contractors, etc.
- Interface with company lobbyists, management, and legislative staff
- Perform plant tasks as assigned
Education
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
Requirements/Qualifications
- Excellent communication
- Timeliness
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Preferred:
Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
