About the Role

Job Summary

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in Process/Automation Engineering. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects and/or maintenance projects. Exposure to various plants, aggregate, ready-mix, and cement.

Compensation

$20.50-$27.00/hr DOE

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Gyp/Urea testing and record-keeping
  • Assist in monthly Process Performance report data gathering
  • Assist Automation team as required
  • Assist in coal mine audit
  • Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
  • Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace
  • Additional work with other engineering disciplines
  • Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
  • Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required  
  • Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, NV
  • Perform plant tasks as assigned

Education

Currently pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Process or Automation Engineering 

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good attendance and punctual
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles

Preferred:

  • Experience with equipment management software
  • Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
