About the Role

About our group:

This Facilities Engineering Intern position will report to the Facilities Operations group at Seagate’s manufacturing site in Bloomington, MN.  Working hours for this position are primarily M-F daytime hours. As an intern you will get to work with a variety of our staff, while working on real projects that provide lasting value to the Facilities Department and Seagate.

About the role - you will:

As a Facilities Engineering Intern, your primary project for the summer will be working with our Master Electrician in focusing on collecting data and nitrating energy monitors with our current building systems. Activities associated with this project include:

 

  • Energy Monitors and BAS Systems:
    • Focus on integrating new energy monitors with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
    • Analyze data collected from these systems to ensure efficiency and compliance.
    • Ensure that the data from energy monitors supports the ISO50001 objectives.
  • Tool Install Power Feeds:
    • Plan and supervise the installation of power feeds for new tools.
    • Ensure that installations meet the National Electric Code.

 

In addition to this primary project, you may also assist with tool install coordination of new manufacturing tools and work on other facilities projects.

About you:

  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to work inside a cleanroom environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently when needed

Your experience includes:

  • Able to read and understand construction drawings
  • Basic understanding of CAD software
  • Interest in power distribution systems and energy efficiency
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Current student pursuing a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and returning to classes in Fall 2026

The estimated base wage range for this position is $22 - $30/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
