About the Role

Safety Performance Engineer Intern

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assist and support Safety Integration team members with project management, test/simulation analysis, and vehicle safety related research tasks.
  • The Safety Performance intern is expected to gain valuable knowledge in vehicle safety development, research, and analysis tools.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Core Projects :

  • Safety performance analysis support
    • Assist with full vehicle crash tests, sled tests, and component tests
    • Pre-test activities include test planning/setup documentation & execution
    • Post-test activities include vehicle/component tear down, analysis, and reporting
  • Vehicle safety research and development
    • Join safety team meetings related to new tech development, field safety, & chronic issue resolution and provide information gathering when necessary
    • Assist with competitor analysis and safety technology trend identification
    • Assist with plant/supplier safety component quality audits
  • Project management
    • Support Safety Integration team members with project documentation, test part/component coordination (ordering, shipping), and budget organization

Other Project(s):

  • Safety analysis tool development
    • Research alternative methods to analyze crash test data (template generation, video analysis, data processing automation, CMM intrusion templates)
  • Safety performance design checking through CAD
    • Utilize CATIA & PLM in order to check vehicle designs as it relates to meeting vehicle safety requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Mechanical Engineering Major with an interest/experience in data sciences
  • Biomechanical Engineering Major
