About the Role

Vehicle Safety Test Engineer Intern

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support crash testing operations as Vehicle Safety Test Engineer
  • Focus on building up test team’s expertise with ATD (Anthropomorphic Test Device)
    • Understanding their construction, instrumentation/sensors, response capability, bio-fidelity, seating protocols, and calibration procedures
    • Support for future HATCI/Safety Integration testing and benchmarking
  • Support crash testing operations through identifying and establishing a means to track and ensure the on-time calibration of sensors and equipment.
  • Future HATCI/Safety Integration recruitment

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Core Projects :

  • Comprehensive understanding of full vehicle crash test process (begin~end)
    • Exposure to official testing procedures
    • Development of new field case test modes or modes of injury analysis related to occupant kinematics
  • Crash Test Dummy Seating Analysis
    • Comparison studies between competitors for benchmarking and occupant kinematics related to seat and restraint system
  • Calibration Schedule and Tracking Development
    • Improvement of existing procedures and their execution
    • Development of procedures for in-house calibration facility   
Other Project(s):
  • CMM Module & Template Development (CMM: coordinate measuring machine)
    • Improvement of existing templates and their translation to Excel and post-crash analysis
  • Test Equipment Research
    • Conduct research into new equipment that may benefit the FCIL’s needs and prove out as budget/time allows.

  • Biomedical Engineering Major
  • Biomechanical Engineering Major
  • Mechanical Engineering Major with an interest/experience in biomechanics and the human body
