About the Role

Closures BIW Engineering Intern (Internship - Summer 2026)

HATCI is seeking a Closures BIW Engineer Intern for Summer 2026!

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  •  Benchmark competitor features for future consideration in TV / TE projects.
    •   Review vehicles with Powered Moving Glass
  • Collaborate with Closures BIW & Mechanisms team to develop a proposal for a Truck Back Panel Powered Drop Glass System.
    •   Investigate packaging & durability considerations with supplying power to the moving glass (defrost, etc.)
  •  Develop and report competitive landscape of powered moving glass systems
  • Develop a cheap prototype mock-up of the Cab back dropping glass power guide mechanism system
  • Help define packaging requirements and design considerations for use on future programs
  • Support & interface with other engineering and design functions for vehicle development
  • Review part/system performance and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in benchmarking activities
  • Assess field claims, customer feedback and other sources and recommend engineering improvements
  • Study and interpret regulations and performance requirements
  • Support advanced development of Closure Mechanism systems and components for future vehicles

  • Have an open attitude and be a team player.
  • Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports/spreadsheets as necessary to support project work
  • Basic CAD and 3D design experience.
