The UHS Corporate Claims Department is hiring a Claims Intern to work with the UHS Corporate Insurance Claims Department on a variety of impactful assignments related to the healthcare and insurance industries from May -August 2024.  Reports to the Director of Claims.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assists the program managers, assistant director, claims analysts and director in their management of the professional and general liability claims by performing tasks as assigned. 
  • Tasks may include data entry, claims data analysis, working in partnership with Risk Management colleagues on joint projects to assist in risk/claim mitigation in compliance with the UHS claims philosophy and guidelines and TERM program.

Qualifications

  • Active enrollment or completion of a college degree program in finance, insurance, risk management or related program.
  • GPA Minimum: 3.00
  • Strong interest in and some knowledge of insurance, tort law, risk finance and claims. 
  • Introductory level knowledge of insurance, risk finance, legal concepts appropriate with an advanced student in the insurance, finance or risk management field of study.
  • Ability to read and understand (with guidance) interpret legal and business documents, including insurance policies, spreadsheets, legal documents, and case summations.

  • Working knowledge and competence using standard PC software programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment.
