This is a seasonal position for Summer 2026 and will require approximately 40 hours of work per week in the office. This role could be based in the following studio:</p> <ul> <li>Los Angeles</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p> <p>As a <strong>Theater Planning and Systems Design Intern</strong> at DLR Group, you will assist in the design of performance and assembly venues, their support spaces, and performance-related equipment systems from planning and pre-design phases through construction administration and post-opening services. As part of our integrated design teams, you will help create buildings that elevate the human experience through design.</p> <p><strong>About EPX at DLR Group:</strong></p> <p>As an intern at DLR Group, you will be a part of our Emerging Professional Experience Program. The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dlrgroup.com/emerging-professional-experience/">EPX program</a> provides diverse perspectives on the needs of a design enterprise, and the possibilities for experiences and growth within the design profession. The goal is to provide a strong foundation to build your career on and explore opportunities within the AEC industry. The program is composed of three major components: mentorship, work, and weekly classes. These classes include EP-specific onboarding, design culture, marketing and business development, sustainability, design technology, communication style education, mentoring, resource and project management, construction site opportunities, research, equity, design agency, and career next steps. You will hear from some of our top executives and integrated designers during this time!</p> <p><strong>The successful candidate will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of our integrated design process</li> <li>Support needs-assessment and early project planning efforts</li> <li>Assist in providing architects, engineers, and other project planners theatrical design guidance on mechanical, structural, and electrical requirements for performance spaces and performance equipment systems</li> <li>Support senior staff with project design reviews, documentation, existing conditions/equipment assessment, and other theatrical design work</li> <li>Learn the tools, technology, and workflow involved with BIM and how today’s designers deliver successful projects</li> <li>Accompany team members on site visits to project sites to see the real-world results of what you do</li> <li>Assist in developing concepts, calculations, modeling, drawing review, and project execution</li> <li>2D Drafting and 3D Modeling using Autodesk Revit Software</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, architecture, design, or similar field relevant to the specialty disciplines noted above</li> <li>Excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills</li> <li>Good multitasking skills to easily switch between projects while keeping track of tasks</li> <li>Ability to work in a team environment</li> <li>A desire to learn about the architecture/engineering design process</li> <li>Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship</li> <li>Basic knowledge of typical theatrical production practice</li> <li>Basic knowledge of performance-related equipment systems such as theatrical lighting, rigging, audience seating, etc.; strong knowledge of at least one system preferred</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with drafting programs such as Revit</li> <li>Goal oriented with strong skills in problem solving, creativity, and attention to detail</li> </ul> <p><em>Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position, including temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including OPT and CPT), TN, J, H-1B, or those who need employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.</em></p> <p>#LI-MIS</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p>Our comprehensive Benefits at DLR Group include medical, dental, vision, disability, wellness programs, flex spending, paid holidays, and paid time off.
