About the Role

SEL Engineering Services integrates devices made by SEL into complete solutions for our utility and industrial customers.  Our solutions prevent blackouts, make outages safer and shorter in duration.  We implement world class protection standards using cutting-edge technologies which include advanced cybersecurity, automation and communication platforms.  As an Electrical Engineering Intern in SEL Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:  

  • Providing technical support to SEL staff & customers

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.

  • Drafting/creating protection & control design drawings

  • Creating protection & automation settings for SEL devices

  • Performing testing on new and existing technology.

  • Documenting and communicating test results.

 

This job might be for you if possess the following: 

  • An interest in protection and control of high voltage electrical power systems

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, with one to two years engineering education completed.

  • Ability to work full time in the summer with an available option to work part time during the school year.

  • Experience in programming and script files

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting software

  • Practical knowledge of AC/DC circuits and 3-phase power systems

Pay Range Data

($19.50 - $32.50 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
