About the role:

As an Operational Excellence intern, you will work with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, analyze data, and implement solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

 

You will report to the Component Delivery Manager and be located at our Newington facility. This is a paid full-time onsite position for the summer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen projects
  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support value stream mapping, process flow analysis, and root cause investigations
  • Participate in Gemba walks and collaborate with shop floor personnel to understand challenges and propose solutions
  • Help develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and visual management tools
  • Contribute to the implementation of 5S and other workplace organization projects
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to leadership

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed Sophomore year of college
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Experience in a machine shop or fabrication facility

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
