About the Role

Description

We are looking for an intern to support the efforts of the ESTA Program at Eliada Home. The ESTA program provides transitional housing, housing case management, and other social determinants of health services to young adults facing housing insecurity in Buncombe County. Intern(s) will have the opportunity to shadow a team of case managers and provide first-hand support to young adults facing housing insecurity and homelessness. This intern will also have the opportunity to learn more about the landscape of social services, non-profits, and government agencies working to provide relief to folks who are unhoused or housing insecure in the greater-Asheville area. The ESTA Team is willing to work with interested individual(s) schedules and does not have designated hours for this role at this time; however, hours would need to be completed during traditional business week as the ESTA office is closed on weekends.  


 Responsibilities:

  • Support with maintaining ESTA's food and hygiene pantries such as through picking up donations, bringing them back to the office and sorting them, developing recipe cards and meal plans including items that can be found in our pantry, greeting community members who visit our pantries, etc.
  • Create communications materials that can be distributed to the community and Clients informing them of resources and events 
  • Support Staff with planning and hosting events for young adults in program
  • Support with case management efforts when appropriate and depending on experience level/skill-set
  • Support Staff with developing and organizing case management curriculum and materials 

Requirements

 Requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • Enrolled in some college or graduated from some college preferred but not required
  • Welcoming of all people, creative thinker, willingness to learn new skills
  • Demonstrated interest in learning more about housing services or pursuing a career in housing/social determinants of health services
