As an Intern at Westinghouse Springfields, you will support the design and development of electrical and instrumentation systems used in nuclear fuel manufacturing and site infrastructure. You'll work with experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing to safety-critical systems and gaining exposure to the nuclear sector.

This paid internship is based at Westinghouse Springfields in Preston, England. It runs for 12 months and is scheduled to start in June 2026, or earlier if you are available

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and drafting of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation layouts.
  • Support the specification and selection of instrumentation and control components.
  • Participate in testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical and control systems.
  • Contribute to safety assessments and compliance with UK nuclear and electrical standards.
  • Update technical documentation, drawings, and asset registers.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams including mechanical, process, and safety engineers.

 

Requirements:

  • Work towards a BEng (Hons) or MEng degree in in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or a related discipline at a UK University
  • Achieve a minimum grade of 2:1 (Honours Degree) or Merit (Masters Degree).
  • Academic foundation in circuit theory, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar CAD tools an advantage
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, or industrial automation.
  • You must be eligible for BPSS and Security Check (SC) clearance, which t requires UK nationality and residency.
