About the Role

Job Summary

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Construction Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in construction management and civil engineering. This individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy civil projects such as road, bridge, disaster recovery, etc., performing tasks in all phases of the project (i.e., bid/estimates, fieldwork, documentation, compliance reporting, etc.)

Compensation

$20.50-$27.00/hr DOE 

Responsibilities

  • Complete Safety and OSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
  • Carry-out and practice all Safety training and company policies in the CalPortland workplace 
  • Assist estimators with quanitity take-offs and quote requests 
  • Assist project managers with material ordering, subcontractor scheduling, measurement/billing, and more 
  • Assist with building a reporting process that can review and qualify all operating and ownership cost
  • Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
  • Attend Summer Intern Day event in Las Vegas, NV
  • Perform other divisional tasks as assigned 

Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good attendance and punctual
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Preferred: 

  • Experience with SAP 
  • Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
  • Prior experience with Bluebeam, AGTEK, P6 and other construction industry software

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
