About The Company
For more than 75 years, Kostelanetz LLP has built a global reputation as the law firm of choice for clients facing high-stakes controversies and negotiations with government agencies. Kostelanetz attorneys have unparalleled experience in tax controversies and white-collar criminal defense and are regularly called upon to handle the most challenging and sensitive cases and internal investigations. An important part of the firm’s practice includes tax and estate planning, commercial litigation, government procurement, and government contracting. Kostelanetz attorneys are highly skilled and approach each matter strategically based on decades of administrative and litigation experience. Many of our attorneys have served as former senior officials within the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of Justice, and other federal and state prosecutors’ offices. Several of the firm’s attorneys have served as federal judicial law clerks and/or have master’s degrees in taxation. Kostelanetz attorneys are thought leaders who write and teach frequently. Several Kostelanetz partners lecture at top law schools and are often hired as expert witnesses or consultants. We have been honored and recognized by major national and international legal rankings agencies, including Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers. All of our partners are either ranked in Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, or both. In 2018, the firm was honored as Tax Team of the Year by Chambers USA, which described us as “an expert tax boutique.” Six of the firm’s attorneys are ranked by Chambers USA in the categories of Tax (nationally and regionally), Tax: Fraud (nationally), Tax: Controversy (nationally), and Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations (New York).
About the Role

Kostelanetz LLP is a boutique law firm that offers a paid internship (at $38.46 per hour) to a Spelman College rising senior interested in joining the firm as a full-time pre-law paralegal for the summer. The internship is part of Kostelanetz’s broader program to develop ties with Spelman College.

During the summer, the Spelman intern benefits from a robust, hands-on program including mentorship at the paralegal, associate, and partner levels; 1L and LSAT-prep resources provided by our attorneys, paralegals, and staff; opportunities to write for prestigious legal journals; and more. Internship responsibilities include case management, legal research, document review, legal and litigation support, interfacing with clients, as well as administrative work, under attorney supervision.

Following graduation from Spelman, students who have completed the internship are typically offered a position as a full-time, pre-law paralegal, with the option to spend one or two years with the firm prior to enrolling in law school.

While not all Spelman interns may pursue a path in one of our practice areas, such as tax law, one of our goals is to help pre-law students understand the various paths available to them, including policymaking, government service, private practice, accounting, and teaching, among others.

The internship application opens on November 24th, 2025, and will close on January 9th, 2026.
