About the Role

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title: Minor League Strength & Conditioning Intern (Seasonal)

Department: Baseball Operations

Reports To: Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

Status: Seasonal Full-time

 

Primary Objective: The Minor League Strength & Conditioning Intern will serve as a part of a comprehensive team in a high-performance professional baseball setting. This position is responsible for observing and assisting in the delivery of strength & conditioning programs for athletes at their assigned affiliate as well as working proactively to prevent injuries utilizing a collaborative and progressive approach under the direct supervision of the full-time staff.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Implement individual player programs by planning daily performance training, conditioning, and sprint and agility work in the gym and on-field; update player programs throughout the season
  • Conduct movement prep and warm-ups before training sessions, batting practices, throwing programs, conditioning, and games
  • Assist medical team as needed with preventative and recovery programs
  • Communicate daily with HP team to modify programming per injury limitations/progressions
  • Track physical activities and weight fluctuation of each player at the minor league level and report on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to the Minor League Performance Coordinator
  • Work with Dietician to advocate healthy eating and sport nutrition for players
  • Collaborate with Assistant Minor League Performance Coordinator and Registered Dietician to ensure quality of clubhouse snacks and meals
  • Assist MiLB Performance Coordinator in day-to-day operations during the off-season and in-season including by not limited to off-season training camps and spring training minor league training camp.
  • Persistently challenge new ideas in the field of performance training and seek out appropriate applications for baseball.
  • Conduct ongoing research and participate in continuing education in advances in the field.
  • Ongoing assessment of athletes’ physical capacity and communicate observations and potential training plans/interventions with the Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
  • Organize and maintain a clean weight room

 

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Exercise Science related field required
  • CPR/AED required
  • Professional or college level strength and conditioning experience preferred
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association-Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC)
  • CPR/AED preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

  • Computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

 

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:

  • Maximum lifting of up to 100 pounds with frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds; typically standing and walking for much of the day
  • Position will be based in Peoria, Arizona.
  • Sitting, Bending, Squatting, Climbing, Kneeling, Twisting
  • Hand use: repetitive use of hand, simple grasping, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below shoulder
  • Position may require travel
  • Position will require non-traditional work schedule including nights and weekends

 

The Mariners are committed to providing competitive pay, perks, and benefits packages for our valued Team Members.   
The anticipated pay for this role is at the rate of $3,000 per month. All perks are subject to eligibility requirements and availability and may be modified or amended from time to time.
