Plains has a great opportunity for a highly motivated student to join our Training Team for a 13-week internship in our Houston office, beginning May 18, 2026. The Plains Internship Program will provide exceptional students interested in the oil and gas industry an opportunity to continue their professional development with the best in the business. The HSE Training Intern will work alongside Plains training developers focusing on training development, asset management, and training documentation projects. The types of projects could include reviewing training modules, updating links, updating training content, testing modules, creating reviewing and cataloging current visual assets, reviewing post course survey data, compiling survey results, and general office work. They will also be assisting with data collection and analysis, reviewing metrics, and preparation of various training reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain an understanding of:

    • Oil and gas midstream industry

    • Health Safety and Environmental practices

    • Training management and development processes

  • Review training modules and make necessary updates;

  • Test training modules for distribution;

  • Aid and support the training management process including record management and media file organization;

  • Gather and compile data to support training team objectives; and

  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Interns must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree at an accredited university in Human Resources, Instructional Design, Curriculum and Development, Instructional Design, or a related field;

  • Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term;

  • Previous internships are considered an asset;

  • Ideal candidates are analytical, creative, connected, and entrepreneurial;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint;

  • Comfortable with virtual collaboration and meeting software, including MS Teams;

  • Ability to take initiative and the confidence to make suggestions for improvement;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Solid interpersonal skills that support collaboration and productive working relationships;

  • Strong planning, organizational skills, and attention to detail;

  • Strong desire to learn the Oil & Gas business;

  • Proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions;

  • Ability to adapt and demonstrated flexibility in a fast-paced environment;

  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate to Houston for the duration of the work term;

  • Interns must be able to commit to a 13-week work term starting May 18, 2026, to be considered for the program;

  • The successful candidate must comply with the Company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing;

  • The successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check; and

  • This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of their employment.
