What a Typical Day Could Look LikeAs an Accounting Intern in our immersive rotation program, you'll gain hands-on experience in property accounting, development accounting and external reporting, giving you a 360° view of the real estate finance world and setting you up for success. You will have guided mentorship from leaders in our industry, work closely with our top-performing associates, learn from other department leaders, and make connections with others in the program. 


You are the Accounting Explorer!

  • You’ll have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of both property and development accounting principles, along with gaining valuable experience in external reporting, giving you a well-rounded foundation for your career!
  • Dive into property accounting and take part in the day-to-day financial operations of our multifamily communities. You'll learn how to manage accounts payable, reconcile bank accounts, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. 
  • Jump into the dynamic field of development accounting, where you'll gain valuable experience managing project costs, helping prepare draw requests, track funding, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with development milestones!
  • Gain hands-on experience with external reporting, working with financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory filings to ensure compliance with external stakeholders and governing bodies.

Requirements

Key Skills and Abilities Needed to Succeed in This Role:

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university during the duration of the internship.
  • Must have obtained 60 credit hours by the start of the internship and of those hours, specialized accounting courses are preferred. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship now or for future employment. 
  • Able and willing to work up to 40 hours during the week for the entirety of the Summer Internship Program. 
  • Previous Accounting Internship experience is preferred. 
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft and Google platforms.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no major infractions in the last 12 months.
