Job Summary:
Functions as rotational intern in Club departments at Lake Geneva site in Golf, Clubhouse, Grounds, and Maintenance performing a variety of job duties.
Description:
1. Learn about Club greens and grounds operations by rotating job duties and participating in daily maintenance and any construction on the golf course and surrounds, clubhouse surrounds, tennis facility, turf care center, pier system, and any landscaping or planting bed.
2. Assists Clubhouse by preparing various workstations for service, ensuring everything is set up according to the Club's standards.
3. Ensure tableware is polished and tables are properly set before and during service.
4. Assist members and guests with order placement, providing excellent customer service.
5. Oversee buffet appearance, ensuring it remains clean and well-stocked throughout service.
6. Assist with stocking bars as needed to ensure smooth and efficient service.
7. Provide support in bar operations, learning the basics of cocktail preparation, inventory management, and customer service.
8. Receive exposure to event planning and execution, assisting with the coordination of special events and member functions.
9. Learn how Banquet Event Order (BEO) sheets work, gaining insight into event logistics and planning.
10. Receive general POS (Point of Sale) system education to assist in processing transactions efficiently.
11. Assist with banquet setup, ensuring rooms are prepared for events according to specifications.
12. Contribute to various other tasks related to the maintenance of the Clubhouse, helping to ensure a clean and safe environment.
13. Help with dishes and kitchen duties, gaining hands-on knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation.
14. Provide backup for outside golf service, helping with bag handling, tee time management, and customer interactions.
15. Assist golf professionals with various projects related to golf operations and event planning.
16. Support merchandising efforts in the golf shop, ensuring product displays are attractive and well-stocked.
17. Assist in training new staff members, helping them understand the Club’s standards and operations.
18. Learn about golf tournament operations, supporting the planning and execution of events.
19. Assist in member and guest sales, providing excellent customer service in the golf shop.
20. Maintain storage and overstock of golf shop merchandise, ensuring organization and availability.
21. Interact positively and cooperatively with members, Board of Directors, visitors, co-workers, and managers.
22. Portray a professional and positive image for the Club by adhering to the dress code and maintaining high standards of conduct.
23. Maintain appropriate levels of attendance, initiative, and productivity.
24. Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others. Attends mandatory training sessions and adheres to club and OSHA safety requirements.
25. Perform all other related duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the club.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma.
Experience: On-the-job training is provided. Excellent opportunity for intern considering a future in hospitality.
Requirements:
Physical Demands: Moderately lifting of golf clubs, sustained periods of walking and standing. Ability to set up and carry trays with food to tables. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, carry and go up and down stairs for supplies.
Mental Demands: Self-starter, willing to jump in and help without hesitation. Ability to work in a fast pace. Read and remember what, when and how to perform task. Ability to follow directions. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Environmental Demands: Exposed to the elements, hot, cold, sun and rain. Exposed to insect bites. Exposed to cleaning agents.
Reports To: General Manager as primary supervisor. Also reports to Sr. Assistant Golf Professional, Director of Grounds, Front of House Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
