We achieve this by fostering an innovative and collaborative environment that values and recognizes diversity of contributions. </span></p><p></p><p><span>This internship position is located in</span> <b>South San Francisco, on-site. </b><span> </span></p><p></p><p><b><b>The Opportunity</b></b></p><p><span>We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic summer intern to join our team. The successful candidate for this laboratory-based position will work closely with our scientific team to lead a discovery project to mitigate the immunogenicity of biotherapeutics. </span></p><p></p><p><span>This internship offers students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, where they will learn technical skills and drug development knowledge by collaborating with experienced professionals on meaningful projects. The ideal candidate should be a proactive individual with a strong desire to learn and contribute to the team's goals.</span></p><p></p><p><span>The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include:</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Experimental design and execution: lead an independent project investigating immunogenicity of biotherapeutics.</span></p></li><li><p><span>High-dimensional phenotyping: design and execute complex multi-color flow cytometry panels to phenotype primary human T-cell subsets.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Data synthesis: analyze complex dataset using FlowJo and GraphPad Prism, and synthesize findings into a comprehensive story.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Scientific communication: present your research findings at group/department/collaborators meetings and at the final Intern Symposium.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Program Highlights</b></b></p><ul><li><p><b><b>Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>Program start dates are in May/June 2026.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. </b></b></p></li><li><p><span>Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Project and career mentorship from Genentech researchers and exposure to the state-of-the-art bioanalytical research and development.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops and panel discussions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Who You Are (Required) </b></b></p><p></p><p><b><b>Required Education:</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Must be pursuing a PhD.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Required Majors: </b></b><span>Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology or related field. </span></p><p></p><p><b><b>Required Skills: </b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Strong hands-on proficiency in multi-color flow cytometry, including panel design, compensation and data analysis.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture and primary immune cell isolation, and cytotoxicity/proliferation assays.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Demonstrated ability to design robust experiments and troubleshoot complex biological assays independently.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Deep understanding of T-cell biology.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. </b></b></p><p><span>The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California </span><span>is </span><span>$46.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
