About the Role
An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00

Job Description Summary

As a Business Insights Strategy and Enablement Intern, you will assist our Tableau Migration Initiative. Under the direction of a senior level employee or manager, you will support business users in migrating from on-prem Tableau instances to the more feature-rich and centralized Tableau Cloud instance by collecting requirements to support Tableau Cloud environment creation, working with business end-users to identify and document reports to be migrated, becoming a Tableau subject-matter-expert to support business onboarding, and reporting on migration progress. You will possess strong interpersonal communication skills, an interest and ability to learn and leverage new technology quickly, and a willingness to learn, adapt, and re-prioritize among changing requirements.

Responsibilities
• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Support Tableau Cloud Migration and onboarding initiative
• May assume the tasks normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles, including query development, training material development and publication, process documentation, and meeting facilitation.
• Present project results to management and/or department personnel.
• Perform analytical work within the assigned functional area.
• Open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures.

Requirements
• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2026 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD. Preference for business or communication students with coursework or demonstrated experience working with relational databases and writing SQL.
• Major/program must align with internship role.
• Ability to read and write SQL. Knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience with Tableau a plus.
• Effective communication; comfortable leading meetings with stakeholders capturing and recording solution requirements.
• Ability to touch type.

Work Location:
This role may be considered for a Full-Time in Office or Hybrid work arrangement based on the selected candidate's location. Work locations for this role include Madison, WI; Boston, MA.
