ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What would you be doing?

The intern will play a key role in assisting the coverage organization to manage and develop productive relationships with our target clients and make sure that we are able to meet our regulatory compliance requirements in terms of Know Your Customer (KYC). The role will also provide the intern with the opportunity to gain understanding of the banking world and the different ING products and services across our organization.

Specific tasks include:

  • Assist with the Compliance Due Diligence/KYC process

  • Assist in preparing various reporting papers and data collection for internal and external meetings

  • Assist in adhoc projects – pitch presentation, database update, annual reviews, client mapping across multiple industries

  • Monitor information and market news on the client base and share client and sector developments with the team

Keep various systems up-to-date, particularly Grid, KYC/CDD, and the client relationship management system

What qualities and skills are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria: 

Qualifications:

  • A major in Business, Accountancy, or Economics is preferred; however, candidates from other academic backgrounds are also welcome to apply.

  • Prior experience in banking (wholesale or commercial) is highly valued but not required.

Skills & competencies:

  • Proficiency in both English and Japanese (fluency in both languages is preferred).

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Proactive, diligent, and capable of working independently while being a strong team player.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a multicultural team environment.

This is a six month full time Internship position starting from January 2026. This position is limited to applicants currently residing in Japan.
