This is what you need to know:</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Knoxville, TN</p><p><strong>Salary: </strong>$25/hr</p><p><strong>Contract:</strong> 12 week internship, full time</p><p><strong>Reporting to: </strong>Director of Nuclear and Fuel Cycle</p><p><strong>Your role in the mission:</strong></p><p><span>Type One Energy are looking for a Fusion Engineer (Summer Internship).</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span>The intern will assist in developing curated internal knowledge repository on the following topics of interest: radiation effects on materials, radiation from burning plasmas, non-ionizing radiation. You will work closely with our Director of Nuclear and Fuel Cycle on our stellarator fusion technologies.</span></p><ul style="margin-top:0in;"><li class="MsoNormal"><p><span>Assist in parametric neutronics evaluations and/or development of complex stellarator geometry tools.</span></p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p><span>The Intern will be exposed to modern computational radiation transport tools and learn how to critically read, evaluate, and utilize scientific literature.</span></p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p><span>Strong preference for candidates currently enrolled in a nuclear physics/nuclear engineering bachelor’s program and general experience with coding (python).</span></p></li></ul><p><strong>What you'll need:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, or a closely related field.</p></li><li><p>Fundamental understanding of nuclear physics or radiation-related concepts.</p></li><li><p>Experience in Python or MCNP</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written and verbal form.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Coursework or project experience in neutronics, radiation transport, or fusion related topics.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with computational modeling or scientific simulation tools.</p></li><li><p>Interest in fusion energy systems and advanced nuclear technologies.</p></li></ul><p style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:medium;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;white-space:normal;"></p><p>Type One Energy applies proven advanced manufacturing methods, modern computational physics and high-field superconducting magnets to develop its optimized stellarator fusion energy system.
