About the role:

As a Setpoints and Control Systems Engineering intern, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and subject matter experts across a variety of nuclear subsystems.

 

You will report to the Setpoint and Control Systems Supervisor and be located at our Cranberry facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support functional design of AP1000 digital control systems and legacy analog protection systems
  • Maintain NSSS Control System Functional Requirements and Diagrams
  • Maintain plant NSSS Design Transients for component qualification
  • Analyze operational transients to test I&C logic and settings
  • Evaluate overpressure transients and develop mitigation strategies to protect the reactor vessel and piping
  • Perform calculations to ensure reactor protection systems meet safety limits considering instrumentation and process uncertainties
  • Determine setpoints that govern daily plant operations

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed Sophomore year of college
  • Coursework in statistics, data analysis, fluid mechanics, dynamic systems, and thermodynamics
  • Coursework in Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) design and operation

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
