Job Description  

 

The IT Security Intern role is designed to provide hands-on work experience and skill building for college students interested in pursuing a career in Information Technology. In this role, the IT Security Intern will learn key processes, roles and functions within IT and Security, while working alongside experienced IT professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Review and update documentation for policies, procedures, standards and guidelines where applicable.
  • Assistance with the deployment and upkeep of the information security department’s digital content around awareness and communications.
  • Aid with compliance monitoring and investigations.
  • Assist with vulnerability assessments for specific applications, services, networks and servers as required.
  • Assist with security applications/tools.
  • Perform compliance audits against institutionally accepted security controls and best practices.
  • Record and track IT security risks and incidents.
  • Evaluate new cybersecurity threats and IT trends from multiple sources and provide awareness for critical vulnerabilities being communicated.
  • Assist security leadership in pulling information security metrics for reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress or recently attained with an educational emphasis in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of college experience.
  • Locally based in Cincinnati, OH and willing to work in the office at least 3 days/week.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow through and respond to requests with a high degree of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a passion for all things cybersecurity.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work Environment

Office: Office setting. Seldom exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Loud working environment of the shop area. Functional vision and hearing required.

Physical Demands

Office: Sedentary.
