Now the team at Neptune is building something truly unique: a fully flexible medical robot that enables doctors to reach deep into human anatomy. Triton Robotic Endoscopy will disrupt flexible endoscopy and set a new standard in outcomes for&nbsp;decades to come.</p> <p><strong>TITLE:&nbsp; Robotics Systems Engineering Co-op</strong></p> <p><strong>DURATION:&nbsp; </strong>6-9 months</p> <p><strong>START DATE:&nbsp; </strong>Winter 2026&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:&nbsp; </strong>We are seeking a current mechanical, electromechanical, robotics, aerospace, or equivalent undergraduate or graduate student to join us for a <strong>spring and summer co-op</strong>.&nbsp; In this role you will gain valuable hands-on experience developing mechatronic systems for novel medical robotic applications all while learning from a world class team of engineers.&nbsp; The ideal candidate is motivated, determined, and proactive, and acts with passion and intensity in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and build prototype mechatronic systems for research and product development purposes</li> <li>Integrate software and hardware and test the integrated system in clinically relevant conditions</li> <li>Characterize and analyze robot performance data using Python or other programming language</li> <li>Use data driven systems analysis to provide design input to hardware and software teams</li> <li>Support clinical development labs while learning the clinical use case</li> <li>Perform root cause analysis of robot bugs and failures</li> <li>Design and build test fixtures</li> <li>Work effectively within the confines of a regulated, quality-system driven, FDA-monitored medical device environment. &nbsp;</li> <li>Work well both independently and as part of a fast-moving, collaborative team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Undergraduate or Graduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering or other electromechanical engineering field.</li> <li>Specific hands-on experience with: <ul> <li>Mechatronics</li> <li>Robotics &amp; controls fundamentals including kinematics, dynamics, sensors, and actuators</li> <li>Python or Matlab for scripting and data analysis</li> </ul> </li> <li>Basic understanding of brushless motors, different sensor types, power transmission methods, etc.</li> <li>Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) and one programming language (C, C++ etc).</li> <li>Bonus: ability to use SolidWorks and 3D printing for rapid prototyping.</li> <li>A demonstrated desire to play an important role in a small, lean, medical device start-up.</li> </ul> <p>Neptune Medical is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station.</p> <p>Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting hourly rate for this role is between $38 to $45 per hour depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
