We are currently seeking a Construction Inspection Intern to support infrastructure projects in and around the Lexington, KY area.  to support our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team in Lexington, KY. This role is designed for individuals interested in beginning a career in construction inspection and transportation infrastructure.

The Intern will work under the direct supervision of experienced Construction Inspectors and Engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to field inspection activities, safety practices, and project documentation. This position emphasizes training, observation, and skill development, with the opportunity to pursue required certifications and build a foundation for a long-term career in construction inspection.

What You’ll Do:
 As a Construction Inspection Intern, you will assist inspection staff on active construction sites and learn the fundamentals of construction inspection through hands-on, supervised experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Construction Inspectors on active roadway and infrastructure construction projects.
• Observe construction activities and assist with verifying work aligns with plans and specifications, under supervision.
• Assist with basic field measurements, material sampling, and testing activities as directed.
• Maintain field notes, photo documentation, and inspection records with guidance from inspection staff.
• Follow established safety procedures and participate in required safety training.
• Assist with general field and office tasks related to construction inspection activities.
• Communicate professionally with inspectors, engineers, contractors, and project staff.

Training & Development

This role provides structured on-the-job training, which may include:

• Field-based training with certified Construction Inspectors.
• Safety training and job-site certifications.
• Exposure to transportation construction projects and inspection processes.
• Preparation for applicable construction inspection certifications.

What You’ll Bring

• Interest in construction, transportation, engineering, or technical field work
• Willingness to learn and work in outdoor construction environments
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift light to moderate materials
• Comfortable working near traffic, heavy equipment, and construction activities
