Job Overview
Great Lakes Cheese is seeking an intern at our Plymouth, Wisconsin location. Internships at GLC allow students to gain real job experience and receive on-the-job training that focuses on our technologies and methodologies. From the start, interns are challenged to demonstrate their strengths and apply their knowledge to help us achieve our business strategy. This is a paid 10-week internship running from June through August of 2026.
Job Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer critical spare parts and create CAD Drawings
- Execute on root cause solutions incorporated with mechanical design of equipment
- Use continuous improvement tools and data analysis to determine top drivers of downtime and costs in Production. Identify root cause and corrective actions to drive improvement.
- Develop standardized settings and boundaries on operational equipment to reduce variable settings.
- Use data collection to improve change overs, center-lining, and standardized recipes.
- Use data collection to reduce film usage, trim, and giveaway
- Opportunity to work with engineers on a daily basis and shadow specialist when feasible.
- Participate in a variety of business projects and opportunities as part of the GLC Intern Association.
- Participate in a variety of personal and professional developmental workshops.
- Participate and execute in a community service project in alignment with GLC’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
- All GLC interns are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
- All GLC interns are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Problem solving skills.
- Direct experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.
