YOUR TEAM

We build the central data platform for vehicle intelligence that powers data-driven product development across CARIAD and all Volkswagen Group brands.
Our Data Delivery & AI Engineering team designs a scalable, future-proof platform that enables advanced AI applications for automated driving and intelligent mobility.

By leveraging fleet-scale telemetry and state-of-the-art machine learning, we unlock vehicle intelligence, boost performance, and drive sustainability. Our platform ensures efficient data collection, processing, and analysis—essential for developing, training, and deploying AI and machine learning models.

We are now extending our capabilities towards AI Agents, LLM-based workflows, and intelligent data services. Join us to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with experts in AI, ML, and data engineering to shape the future of automotive AI.

Enrolled students who complete practical work experience in a company alongside their academic studies in order to gain practical experience in the workplace. The work of student employees can vary depending on their field of study/area of work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and AI workflows for efficient delivery of vehicle and sensor data
  • Build and experiment with LLMs, AI agents, and chain-based systems for data analysis, automation, and intelligent decision-making
  • Develop and refine machine learning models for pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to deploy AI models and agent systems into production, managing the full end-to-end process
  • Contribute to shaping our AI and LLM roadmap, identifying opportunities to apply advanced AI technologies to real-world automotive challenges
  • Conduct research, run experiments, and present your results to your supervisor and project stakeholders

WHO YOU ARE

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program or final stages of your Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn), including hands-on work with LLMs or deep learning
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries for agent-based development (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs)
  • Experience or strong interest in data engineering and cloud technologies (Databricks experience is a big plus)
  • Understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for AI deployment (Azure preferred)
  • Analytical mindset, curiosity for solving real-world problems with AI, and excellent communication skills

  • Duration: 6 months
  • 20 h/week, up to 35 h/week during semester break
  • Salary: 17,80€/h
