About the Role

The Scalo Companies include seven companies rooted in the construction field: Burns and Scalo Roofing, Co. (Locations in PA and OH), Cuddy Roofing, Scalo Solar, Burns & Scalo Roof Asset Management, NexGen Design Systems, Inc., and Scalo Inc.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Commercial Project Manager, the Construction Management Intern will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the Burns & Scalo Sales and Operations team.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety Director in day-to-day operations such as site visits and inspections on both a scheduled and random basis to ensure compliance of OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Inspection duties may include documenting and correcting deficiencies, citing safety violations, examining equipment and writing action reports when needed.
  • Collaborate with necessary personnel to aid in the investigation and reporting procedures for all work-related incidents.
  • Create and carry out initiatives to help in the reduction of work-related incidents and injuries through proactive reinforced training campaigns.
  • Facilitate employee safety training and insurance compliance activities.
  • Author and push out updates to all Safety Logs (Toolbox Talks, Safety Reports, Trainings, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management to provide timely feedback of field compliance issues, work-related accidents, and other pertinent safety details
  • Work with Safety Director to regularly update the safety handbook and broadcast changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist Project Management and Support Staff as needed.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a business field
  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and high work standards
  • Willingness to learn and provide assistance to all operational personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on accuracy and details
  • Able to work at heights and use ladders.
  • Obtain a permissible background check including drug screen and work-related references.
  • Physically able to tolerate work outdoors at varying temperatures.
  • Capable of bending and lifting


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a Safety role
  • OSHA-10 certification, OSHA-30 certification preferred.
  • Construction industry experience
  • Insurance investigating and reporting experience

 

Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour
