About The Company
As the world's leading derivatives marketplace, CME Group (www.cmegroup.com) is where the world comes to manage risk. CME Group exchanges offer the widest range of global benchmark products across all major asset classes, including futures and options based on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural commodities, metals, weather and real estate. CME Group brings buyers and sellers together through its CME Globex® electronic trading platform and its trading facilities in New York and Chicago. CME Group also operates CME Clearing, one of the world’s leading central counterparty clearing provider in the world, which offers clearing and settlement services for exchange-traded contracts, as well as for over-the-counter derivatives transactions through CME ClearPort®. These products and services ensure that businesses everywhere can substantially mitigate counterparty credit risk in both listed and over-the-counter derivatives markets.
About the Role

We are seeking motivated and talented students who want to help us solve some of the most complex challenges in financial technology. Technology teams at CME write and maintain ultra low-latency electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, and front-end trading interfaces, all of which are central to CME’s business. We are focused on designing, building and deploying customer focused solutions with passion and precision.

CME’s Technology Summer Internship program offers students opportunities to learn more about CME’s business, our role in the financial industry, and the types of technology that keep our markets running. Students will develop both their technical skills and expand their network with access to industry experts, while working alongside other talented and ambitious students with a passion for FinTech.

The Global Information Security (GIS) Department is a critical component of the Technology Division and is focused on delivering a safe and secure environment for the operation of our markets. The Identity and Access Management (IAM) intern will join the IAM engineering and operations team within GIS and gain exposure to multiple technologies used to control access to systems.

The IAM intern will gain exposure related to multiple processes and technologies we use to manage digital identities including:

  • Leveraging PAM (privilege access management) technology to ensure secrets are inventoried and managed properly.

  • Learning how identity management standards are authored and participating in identity risk remediation efforts to prevent credential theft, stop lateral movement, and limit privileged escalation and abuse.

  • Help develop and maintain automation scripts (using tools like Python, Go, or Shell) for managing Vault configurations.

  • Gain practical experience with containerization and orchestration by working with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).

  • Contribute to our CI/CD pipelines to automate the secure deployment of applications and infrastructure.

  • Create and update documentation for configurations, processes, and best practices to help empower other teams.

  • Participate in team agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or related field

  • Excellent communication skills and very strong attention to detail

  • Team-oriented with a desire to collaborate

  • Capability to perform industry research using a variety of sources and distill the information into brief reports

  • Self-motivated with a passion for learning and problem solving

  • A passion for technology through projects or experience outside of school
