Position Summary:

The property management Intern Service position requires an energetic and motivated individual.  Qualified candidates for the Intern Service position must enjoy working with people and demonstrate a strong desire to learn and engage in aspects of residential property maintenance.  A successful Intern Service associate is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work.  In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates and vendors.  This internship is for 10 weeks.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gain practical experience in multifamily maintenance by assisting with day-to-day tasks including repairs, preventative maintenance, unit turnovers, and property inspections—building a foundational understanding of facilities operations
  • Shadow and collaborate with team members across key property maintenance roles to understand how each function contributes to the overall success of the property
  • Gain hands-on experience with routine and preventive maintenance operations, contributing to the upkeep of community grounds and landscaping while supporting initiatives that enhance curb appeal and maintain efficient utility systems
  • Understand how preventative and responsive maintenance practices positively impact the property’s bottom line, resident retention customer service ratings
  • Assist with inspecting of pre-moves outs, make-readies, and service requests when necessary
  • Participate in employee engagement efforts, team-building, training sessions and intern focused events to deepen knowledge of property management procedures
  • Ensure market ready apartments, common areas and amenities meet Weidner’s standards for cleanliness and readiness daily
  • Help distribute resident notices and correspondences while upholding confidentiality and protecting sensitive information
  • Accompany vendors to occupied and vacant units when necessary, ensuring property communication and access
  • Follow all company key logging and storing procedures
  • Regular and effective communication with SIT Program Manager / Service Mentor / Regional Maintenance Director and other teammates
  • Promote safety and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to hazards that cause workplace injury and illness
  • Inspect, respond to, and follow up with safety issues, accidents, liabilities and emergency situations immediately

 

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Interest in property management maintenance career
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds/36.3 kg, climb ladders and climb multiple flights of stairs at a time
  • Able to use appliance dolly, push/pull up to 200 pounds/90.7kg
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment and be customer service oriented
  • Have excellent interpersonal communication skills; Dependable and ability to make good judgments
  • Ability to problem-solve and bring innovative ideas to challenges; handle stress effectively
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; Able to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basis
  • Follow Weidner’s Mission, Vision and Values and comply with all Weidner policies and procedures as well as all Fair Housing, local, state/province, and federal laws
  • Prompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code / uniform & maintain professional appearance at all times

  • Driver’s license and vehicle insurance must be valid and unexpired at all times and match the country in which associate will work
