SUMMARY

Reporting to a senior actuarial analyst or associate actuary, the actuarial intern works under the direction of a supervisor, project manager or account executive to organize, input and update data in actuarial models. It is an opportunity to develop professional expertise and communication skills by working on projects in various areas. The actuarial intern will interact with analysts and consultants as well as other personnel within Pinnacle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Participate in the delivery of actuarial consulting projects
    • Organize and input data into actuarial models; modify existing actuarial models; and/or manipulate existing code for data processing and predictive modeling under the direction of a project manager
    • Format work correctly and professionally
    • Effectively communicate with project teams and manage internal expectations to ensure that projects are on time and meet Pinnacle standards for excellence
    • Suggest improvements to accuracy, efficiency, and/or quality of Pinnacle processes or work products to supervisor
    • Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisor regarding day-to-day projects
  • Review work to ensure accuracy
  • Proactively request additional work when available
  • Comply with the Casualty Actuarial Society’s Code of Professional Ethics for Candidates
  • Enter time and expenses accurately and timely
  • Handle and process confidential information with complete discretion
  • File projects and materials according to Pinnacle’s internal filing system
  • Regular, predictable and punctual attendance in a Pinnacle office when not working off-site

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Pursuing Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university in Actuarial Science, relevant mathematical or insurance field
  • Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam
  • Actively pursuing credentials in the Casualty Actuarial Society
