The Construction Materials Testing Intern supports field and laboratory testing of construction materials under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers. This hands-on role involves collecting samples, conducting basic tests, recording results, and learning industry-standard procedures. The intern will work primarily in the field and must be comfortable working outdoors, communicating with construction personnel, and handling physical tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with compaction testing using nuclear and drive cylinder gauges.
  • Conduct basic concrete sampling and testing.
  • Measure soil moisture content.
  • Complete field logs, test forms, and data entry with attention to detail.
  • Communicate test results with field and office personnel.
  • Learn to read construction documents and blueprints.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain equipment.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
  • No prior experience required, but exposure to construction or testing is a plus.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
