About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY
The Procurement Intern's responsibilities include sourcing new suppliers, ensuring that the purchased products and materials meet specifications, negotiating purchase orders/terms, and evaluating supplier performance. Additionally, the procurement specialist will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries and resolving any supply issues or discrepancies.

Essential Functions Statements

  • Research, select, and audit potential suppliers.
  • Correspond and collaborate with suppliers.
  • Submit requests for quotes (RFQs), prepare proposals, negotiate purchase terms and conditions, and issue purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns.
  • Send/review EDI transmissions to/from suppliers.
  • Input new purchase orders, verify raw material is available, and send order confirmations to customers.
  • Conduct cycle counts on material and assist with inventory processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Graepel staff to ensure flow of product to the end customer.
  • Conduct supplier selection to assure compliance with QMS and EMS certifications.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet customer quality and environmental specifications.
  • Work a regular schedule determined by supervisory management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:      Apprenticeship or academic studies in Business Administration

                        Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.

Experience:    

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience preferably as a buyer, planner, or dispatcher in an industrial and or logistics firm.
  • Ability to establish relationships with international customers, suppliers and sub-contract manufacturers. and familiarity with pricing strategies and negotiation tactics.
  • Fluent English to communicate to customers and suppliers.
  • Basic understanding of German preferred to communicate and coordinate with German facilities preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outgoing attitude, communicative and negotiating skills, persuasive power
  • Cooperative attitude
  • Willingness to travel domestic and international

 

Computer Skills:

  • Experience using MS Office Suite and Business Management Software
