About the Role

Tokio Marine HCC – Surety Group, a member of the Tokio Marine Group of Companies, has an exciting Winter 2025 Surety Underwriting Internship opportunity at our Pennsylvania - Blue Bell branch office.

We are looking for a college student who is interested in turning their educational studies into practical work experience while working alongside our surety contract and commercial underwriters. 

Position Overview

The Intern will learn surety underwriting concepts while providing administrative support to our team of underwriters.

Performance Objectives

  • Data Entry: Enter and verify information on proprietary software and database

  • Underwriter Support: Accurately set up files within expected timeframes while adhering to established standards, gather financial information

  • Finance: Learn preliminary credit and financial analysis, verify credit

  • Broker Communication: billing, process status inquiries

Expectations

  • Become familiar with TMHCC Surety Group and what we do

  • Understand file procedures, underwriting terms, data sources

  • Understand TMHCC Surety Group operational systems

  • Accurately and efficiently set up files, enter data, and accomplish other tasks to help our underwriters

  • Increase skills and interest for a career in surety underwriting

Requirements

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree and either be a current or recent enrollee in the study of Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Risk Management, or the equivalent education and/or experience

  • 60 units of general college coursework with a GPA of 3.0 or greater

  • Work consecutive weeks throughout the summer

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

  • Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy

  • Initiative and active contributor with activities

  • Motivation to succeed
