AvL Technologies is offering a 7-week paid internship designed to give high school seniors and recent graduates the opportunity to directly apply their STEM learning in an advanced manufacturing environment. This hands-on experience is open to students who have participated in a Robotics program or are enrolled in a STEM school or Career and Technical Education program focused on advanced manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
This internship offers students immersive, hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing setting, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge to meaningful, real-world projects. Interns will rotate through key departments and play an active role in the production of AvL’s parabolic antenna systems, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of advanced manufacturing
During the program, interns will rotate weekly through key departments at AvL to gain insight into the full manufacturing process:
- Carbon Fiber, Paint & Surface Prep - Interns will assist with sanding, finishing, and preparing composite parts for production.
- Wiring Fabrication - Interns will build and route electrical harnesses using soldering and
crimping techniques.
- Mechanical Fabrication & Assembly - This rotation will focus on part fitting, torque tool usage, and hardware installation.
- Software & Enclosure - Interns will work with internal tools and assist with integrating components into system enclosures.
- System Testing - Interns will follow testing procedures to ensure each antenna meets performance standards and is ready for deployment.
- Procurement & Quality Assurance – Interns will gain exposure to vendor coordination, incoming part inspection, and quality control processess.
- Engineering & Product Development - Interns will observe early-stage product design, assist with problem-solving tasks, and learn how innovation drives the evolution of AvL’s technology.
This is a hands-on, team-integrated internship. Interns are considered part of the AvL workforce and are expected to adhere to all company safety protocols and conduct policies. Each rotation is thoughtfully designed to deliver real-world experience through collaboration, applied technical skills, and the pursuit of excellence that defines AvL’s manufacturing operations.
Schedule & Pay
- Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 40 hours per week
- Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
- Location: AvL Technologies, 15 N Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806
Intern Expectations
- Be punctual, professional and follow all safety protocols at AvL Technologies
- Attend orientation on June 12, 2026
- Commit to a full 40-hour workweek throughout the internship
- Engage actively in department rotations and contribute respectfully as a team member
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old by June 15, 2026. Applicant must be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- Must be a current high school senior or recent graduate who has
- Participated in a Robotics program or
- Enrolled in a STEM school or Career and Technical Education program focused on advanced manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
