About the Role

We are currently accepting applications for our  2026 Internship programs.

 

The Finance Intern will support Valvoline Global Operations’ (VGO) Finance team. This position provides a hands-on learning experience in financial reporting and analysis. The intern will gain exposure to day-to-day financial planning activities that support business decisions. 

 

Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We prefer candidates willing to work an in-office work schedule (4x per week).

 

 

This internship is designed to support both the intern's finance and accounting education and VGO's operational needs by offering hands-on assignments and real-time challenges that contribute to the success of the finance department and the company overall.

 

 

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Financial Planning & Forecasting
    • Assist in preparing monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range financial plans.
    • Build and update financial models to support revenue, margin, and expense planning.
    • Analyze budget vs. actual performance and identify key drivers of variances.
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Support creation of monthly management reporting packages, dashboards, and KPI summaries.
    • Gather, validate, and synthesize data from multiple business units and systems.
    • Prepare ad-hoc analyses to answer leadership questions quickly and accurately.
  • Business Partnering
    • Work with Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Commercial teams to collect assumptions and validate inputs.
    • Help translate business initiatives into financial implications using zero-based budgeting principles.
    • Participate in meetings to understand operational drivers and cost structures.
  • Modeling & Data Work
    • Build and maintain Excel-based or Python-driven models to analyze trends (volume, pricing, mix, cost, productivity).
    • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making.
    • Improve model automation and streamline data flows where possible.
  • Strategic & Project Support
    • Support special projects such as pricing analysis, transformation savings tracking, headcount planning, or capital investment evaluations.
    • Assist in financial storytelling—turning data into insights and insights into recommendations.
  • Tools & Systems Exposure
    • Work with financial systems such as SAP, BPC, or Power BI.
    • Leverage advanced Excel/Sheets functions (Index/Match, SUMIFS, pivot tables, macros).
  • General Internship Expectations
    • Present findings and insights to FP&A managers and cross-functional leaders.
    • Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and attention to detail.

 

 

What You'll Need

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to relate to and inspire confidence with sophisticated business groups.
  • A collaborative, professional, and proactive mindset and a high-level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work on-site at VGO’s Lexington, KY headquarters.
