About the Role

Position Overview

Join the Quality Control Microbiology team! 

 

This position will support the laboratory analyst and scientists as we test samples throughout the biomanufacturing facility to ensure sterility and safety of our products.  As we are qualifying the new facility, you will learn about the critical role that Microbiology plays in the overall facility qualifications as well as what it takes to establish and qualify a new laboratory.  During this internship you will be expected to assist our team with ensuring the laboratory is properly set up and qualified, methods are clearly and concisely written and that we meet all regulatory requirements.  You will learn the key assays used in the Microbiology laboratory and how our team functions across the site to support facility qualifications. You will gain both laboratory skills and regulatory knowledge related to biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

 

Start Date: This internship is set to begin on May 26th 2026 for an 11-week duration ending on August 7th 2026.

 

Relocation: Please note this Internship Opportunity is designed to be 100% Onsite, 40 hours/week and a relocation/housing stipend is not provided.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

 

Under the direct supervision, support and guidance of the manager:

 

  • Learn and implement Lean 5S 6sigma for lab workstations.
  • Learn and implement material ordering and management.
  • Establish vendor managed inventory systems (VMI) integration, labeling, flow, material use velocities adjustment for right first time and received on time, right amount, right time.
  • Establish material receipt, logging, release procedures for GMP use in LIMs.
  • Identify key regulatory requirements that govern the QC Micro lab and testing.
  • Create a spreadsheet with key requirements.
  • Document which SOPs document that the requirement is being covered.
  • Identify gaps.
  • Update or write documents to ensure coverage.
  • Develop a lab audit checklist to support future audits based on this assessment

 

Basic Requirements

 

• Currently enrolled in an Associate's Degree program with a Life Sciences focus OR• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Scientific Undergraduate or Master’s degree Program• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Requirements

 

• Prior experience in Pharma/Biotech/Chemical Industry• Prior hands-on technical experience (in a laboratory or manufacturing environment)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to discern audible cues
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time - up to 60 minutes
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time - up to 240 minutes
  • Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include writs, hands and/or fingers
  • Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 10 pounds
