Monte Nido & Affiliates has been providing proven treatment for eating disorders for over two decades. Our programs offer treatment that blends the personalized and medically sophisticated care for which we are known, with the latest research and strategies for those overcoming eating disorders. Our treatment setting is intimate with a high staff-to-client ratio, and an emphasis on individual therapy and highly individualized treatment.  

 

We are seeking a Dietetic Intern to work at the Inpatient program located in Dedham, MA. 

 

Our goal in accepting interns is to foster an interest in, and knowledge of, eating disorders in the field of dietetics. We aim to provide each intern with insight and experience on the crucial role registered dietitians (RDs) can play on the multidisciplinary eating disorder treatment team. While aiding the intern in gaining experience in eating disorder treatment, our organization benefits from their creativity and energy while providing our RD staff the opportunity to mentor new members of the dietetics field.

Responsibilities Include:

General Schedule:
Of note: the DNS may vary the schedule in response to the intern’s skill set and/or abilities throughout the internship experience.

 

Week 1:

  • Meet with RDs and multidisciplinary team
  • Attend team meetings
  • No independent direct interaction with clients
  • Education on nutrition philosophy, treatment modalities and boundary setting 

Week 2:

  • Intern is assigned to one RD
  • Shadow groups, sessions and begin taking notes
  • Input EMR notes from RD sessions and groups
  • Attend team meetings
  • Participate in meals with RD

Week 3:

  • Increased involvement in activities above
  • Begin to engage in nutrition sessions collaboratively with RD
  • Begin to give feedback and support in meals and groups, when appropriate
  • Begin to develop Nutrition group and select case presentation

Week 4:

  • Continued involvement as stated above
  • Take lead in collaborative nutrition sessions

Week 5:

  • Continued involvement as stated above
  • Independently lead select nutrition sessions with client by preparing with RD before and processing following sessions. Reporting in staff meeting on these clients
    Present Nutrition group plan to staff of RDs, receive feedback and make modifications

Week 6:

  • Facilitate Mindful Eating/Nutrition group with RD observing
  • Lead sessions and write session notes independently
  • Lead RD reporting in staff meeting
  • Present case presentation to RD staff
  • Evaluation by mentoring RD and DNS.
  • Intern to provide evaluation of the experience to DNS

Qualifications:

  • Prospective interns must be enrolled in a CDR Approved Dietetic Internship Program (MNA must have a working agreement with the enrolled program prior to the start date, including acknowledgement of HIPAA compliance)
  • Prospective interns must first interview with the Director of Nutrition Services (DNS) of the program to which they are applying
  • After interviewing with the DNS, if deemed appropriate to continue the process, interns will be interviewed by the facility RD for final determination of if the intern will be accepted
  • Interviews will take place in person or via remote conferencing system (such as doxy) unless a special exception is granted
  • Internships are a minimum six-week commitment
  • Intern must have completed required background checks, fingerprints, etc required by the program assigned prior to start date
