Business and Tourism Student

Position description

The Town is seeking a Business and Tourism Student to work with the Economic Development and Culture office to develop, implement, and support a variety of initiatives intended to strengthen Orangeville’s business community and tourism sector.

Responsibilities include assisting in the research and creation of engaging content, itineraries, and tours throughout the community to promote the Town’s tourism drivers; participating in community events and initiatives to promote Orangeville as a tourism destination; supporting outreach to businesses to update directory information and provide resources; assisting with marketing and promotional activities required to attract visitors and businesses to Orangeville; researching and analyzing data, market trends and key performance indicators; and general administrative duties as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program at senior level with a focus on business, tourism, marketing, communications, history, or related field.
  • Valid Ontario Class G license and access to vehicle for community engagement activities and events.
  • Six (6) months of customer oriented, public-facing work experience.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills.

 

Hourly Rate: $24.59 to $26.60 (2025 rate)

 

Please note:

  • To be eligible for this job, students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment.
  • All student interviews are expected to be scheduled in February 2026. We will work within the Winter 2026 reading weeks advertised by Ontario post-secondary institutions; however, please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate every school schedule. Virtual interview formats are available.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check, in accordance with the duties of this position.
  • All Town student positions are subject to budget and grant approval and thus may be subject to change.
