Fleet Student

Position description

The Town is seeking a Fleet Student to perform routine and minor mechanical maintenance work on Town-owned and rental vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to tune ups, oil changes, chassis lubrication, lights, tire rotation, engine component replacement and scheduled maintenance. The Fleet Student will also be expected to organize parts and inventory, pick up or drop off parts and vehicles from Town vendors, assist the Fleet Supervisor with ordering parts and supplies, document work orders, and maintain a tidy and safe work area where vehicle maintenance is completed.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program for automotive/mechanical techniques, and experience with small engine and vehicle repairs, would be assets.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.

 

Hourly Rate: $20.40 to $22.07 (2025 rate)

  • To be eligible for this job, students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment.
  • All student interviews are expected to be scheduled in February 2026. We will work within the Winter 2026 reading weeks advertised by Ontario post-secondary institutions; however, please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate every school schedule. Virtual interview formats are available.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check, in accordance with the duties of this position
  • All Town student positions are subject to budget and grant approval, and thus may be subject to change.
