GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager of Special Events, the Events Intern will learn all aspects of managing our special events to include event planning, management, and execution. The Events Intern will assist with our three main fundraising events such as our Light of Hope Breakfast, Carnival for CASA at Faulkner’s Ranch and Cocktails for CASA – A Night of Hope. The Events Intern will also assist with our smaller-scale events.
The right candidate:
- Can commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week during the internship, some weeks may require more
- Is flexible, dependable, detail-oriented and self-starting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects
- Ability to work from home
- Ability to work and attend in-person events as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in interpersonal interactions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management
- Must provide your own laptop
- Prefer to hire intern for 1 year (January – December)
Will also work and partner on projects with the Director of Development, Manager of Communications & Marketing, and President & CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist with the organization and planning of the agency’s three signature fundraising events, the Light of Hope Breakfast, Carnival for CASA at Faulkner’s Ranch and Cocktails for CASA – A Night of Hope and The KC Chiefs Charity Game as well as other smaller-scale events.
- Assist with event budgets and manage revenue opportunities and expenses to stay in line with the approved budget to maximize the net contribution to the agency’s bottom line
- Assist with the recruitment and management of event volunteers
- Proactively handle issues that arise before, during, and after the event and troubleshoot possible emerging problems
- Communicate via email and phone to current and potential donors
- Assist with post-event evaluations and outcomes
- Performs miscellaneous job-related and administrative duties as assigned
- Some weekend and evening work required
- Requires ability to lift, load, and assemble event materials up to 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Is enrolled in the UCM Events Management Degree Program.
